Alcoa’s internal audit group is responsible for providing an objective and professional evaluation of internal control systems, and to recommend and advise on improvements in control systems, business processes and the economical use of resources for the company’s operating locations, support services and outsourcing arrangements. The internal audit group is an ideal entry point to Alcoa for highly motivated individuals as it offers extensive exposure to Alcoa Business Units and to the company’s financial philosophies and practices. The group’s current areas of focus include: • Evaluating the internal controls of business processes for the company’s operating locations, support services and outsourcing arrangements • Providing recommendations to location and Executive Management on improving the control environment and increasing operational efficiencies • Providing internal consulting to further contribute to business unit and company performance • Consulting on process improvements and other management requests • Transferring knowledge throughout the company through best practice sharing • Continually improving the audit process for the benefit of customers (e.g., Self-Assessment revisions, development of new self-assessment tools).
Audit’s customers are Alcoa’s Audit Committee, Alcoa’s top executives – corporate leaders and BU leaders – Presidents and CFOs, External Auditors, and location management.
Senior auditors will report to the North American Audit Manager and contribute to the projects listed above, as well as new projects. New auditors in the group will be expected not only to execute on existing activities, but improve upon processes and approaches.
While career paths are specific to each individual, the general path is for individuals to spend approximately 3-4 years in audit, contributing to key projects and developing a network among management. Subsequent to the position in audit, candidates will be placed in financial and operating leadership positions in Alcoa’s business units (BU’s). Candidates will drive placement choices equally with corporate and BU managers.
It is essential that candidates have strong analytical skills, are excellent communicators, and work effectively with a wide variety of people. It is also desirable that the candidate is open to relocation after a period of time in audit. Alcoa is looking for well-rounded business people with critical thinking skills.

Basic Qualifications - Bachelors degree - A CPA is highly desired however an individual with a MBA with prior audit experience, or an individual with significant Alcoa-business experience will also be considered. - All Candidates Must Have Authorization to Work in the US Preferred Qualifications - Previous audit experience (external and/or internal). - Database and querying skills - Knowledge of Alcoa business processes and systems is desirable. - Some Language Proficiency is a Plus
